Are You In A Rut? By Desiree Summers |
Are you in a rut with your fitness routine? No worries mate (as they say in the Aussie country). We all, and I mean everyone… goes through times when we are stuck in a rut and it is very common. Once you get in a schedule of a fitness routine and you have done it for a while it can get predictable and with some just down right boring. If you are one of the faithful that is going through this, CHANGE YOUR ROUTINE! If you are a walker do one street walking and try the next street running and so on. Maybe you’re an aerobic gal that only sees florescent lightening everyday, get out to the real world grab a friend go for a bike ride around the neighborhood. Maybe you have done the same fitness class for ten years why not try something different. Not only will it do wonders for your heart. A nice change of scenery is always a plus. Even in the water is a blast. There are classes for everyone at every fitness level. If you have gotten into such a rut and it’s making you not want to exercise, take some time off. IT”S O.K. to have a vacation from exercise. Rest one day and then do half of what you would do the next day. It will give your mind and body sometime to get back into your fitness routine. Fitness is a process. Our bodies are always changing. Especially, those of us that are getting past the lovely 30’s, I can remember teaching fitness classes all day then taking my 3 year old and 2 year old for a run in the double stroller. WOW, those days have sure gone by. I wish they would return… well maybe not. On my run yesterday I saw a cute mom with a newborn in the stroller, the three year old trying to help mommy push the newborn in the stroller and the family dog in the other hand wanting to go the other direction and there she was just smiling because she was with those most precious to her. You know we can all spot heroes each and every day. I would have to say that she was one of mine. Way to go Mom! Keep exercising and do whatever it takes to stay around for the long haul. Don’t forget exercise today will give you benefits for the future. We all want to be here to see our children and families grow. Exercise is just a part of that picture. .
